Oranges

The country of origin of the orange is India and China; it belongs to the citrus fruits and is one of the most important citrus fruits. It is in the same family as lemon, grapefruit, mandarin, bitter orange, citrus, pomelo, bergamot and kumquat.

The varieties we cultivate are Navelina , Merlin and Valencia. Navelina is a variety with early maturity and medium sized oranges with thick peel (suitable for spoon sweet) and excellent quality. Compared to Merlin they are juicer and less sweet. Their season is from October to January.

Merlin is a variety with a big fruit, round shape and a protruding apex. Merlin oranges have a beautiful color and are seedless, thus they are easily peeled. Their season is from November to March. Valencia: The oranges of this variety are medium to large, almost spherical in shape. The peel is moderately thick and quite smooth. They are very juicy, tasty and have few or no seeds. Their season is from March to September.

Oranges are rich in vitamin C which stimulates the production of antibodies and white blood cells and awakens the immune system, while protecting the body from infections. Oranges contain fiber and pectin which reduce the intake of fat and the cholesterol levels.
